In the summer semester, five students of the Elementary Music Education programme developed a concept for a musical encounter with adults at the St. Josefs-Stift in Eisingen under the supervision of Prof. Michael Forster. In this special institution, people with mental or multiple disabilities are enabled to live a self-determined and independent life. This was preceded by intensive discussions on the initiative of Prof. Dr. Egidius Doll (former professor for organ at the HfM Würzburg) and Ernst A. Hestermann (1st chairman of St. Josefs-Stift e. V.) about possible uses of music in the everyday lives of these people.
The conclusion of this community music project took place with two workshops on 7 July 2023 in the theatre hall of the St. Josefs-Stift in Eisingen. The students were able to put their theoretical considerations from the course into practice and come into contact with a very special target group.
The aim of the project was to offer people with mental and physical disabilities a musical experience that is free of performance pressure and independent of musical abilities and skills.
