Marie-Thérèse Zahnlecker

Pianist Marie-Thérèse Zahnlecker is a prize winner of the German Music Foundation, the International Competition for Banned Music, and the Classical Music Prize of the City of Münster and WDR.
Together with soprano Theresa Maria Romes, she is the founder and festival director of the KAMMERMUSIK! Festival Würzburg, which has been held annually in October since 2021.
Since 2021, Marie-Thérèse Zahnlecker has held a teaching position at the University of Music Würzburg, where she previously completed her studies with highest honours under Bernd Glemser and in the chamber music classes of Denise Benda and Reto Bieri. She received important musical inspiration from other significant musicians such as Dmitri Bashkirov, Janina Fialkowska, Ragna Schirmer, Eberhard Feltz, Markus Schirmer and Grigory Gruzman.
Together with her piano duo partner Jonas Gleim, she released their joint debut album in March 2024 with works for piano four hands by Barber, Smit, Ravel and Mozart on the Immersive Sound Art label. The Onyx Piano Duo has been praised by the trade press for its subtle sense of timbre, technically crystal-clear sophistication and the unconditional fusion of the two musicians on their instruments.
In 2023, she was awarded the Kulturförderpreis der Stadt Würzburg (Culture Promotion Prize of the City of Würzburg).
