BR-KLASSIK presents the joint concert of the three Bavarian music academies live on Wednesday, 17 January 2024 at 19:00 in Studio 1 of the BR-Funkhaus in Munich. "Bavarian female composers" will be the focus of the 6th joint concert. Students from all three Bavarian music academies in Nuremberg, Würzburg and Munich will bring the state's female musical language from several centuries to the stage. Works by Wilhelmine von Bayreuth (1709-1758), Luise Adolpha Le Beau (1850-1927), Isabel Mundry (*1963), Rebecca Trescher (*1986) and others will take centre stage. The concert will be broadcast live on BR-KLASSIK from 19:05.
Co-operation and joint artistic work are the aim of this concert by the music academies: Each participating university is not only represented in the programme with its own ensembles. Mixed ensembles with students from Nuremberg, Würzburg and Munich will also perform. Together they will perform, for example, the Dufay arrangements by Isabel Mundry (Professor of Composition in Munich) and a jazz composition by Rebecca Trescher (alumna of the Nuremberg and Munich universities). Various compositions for chamber music are also grouped together, including a trio by Luise Adolpha Le Beau for voice, violin and piano. World premieres by composition students from Nuremberg, Würzburg and Munich round off the programme. The evening will be hosted by BR editor Annekatrin Hentschel.
Prof Dr Christoph Wünsch, President of the HfM Würzburg:
"The joint concert of the three Bavarian music academies is a symbol of our cooperation within the 'Kunsthochschule Bayern' network and of our joint commitment to two central tasks: Maintaining and further developing the cultural asset 'music' as well as education and training under this perspective at the highest level.
The Würzburg University of Music would also like to express its sincere thanks to the preparatory team."
In addition to their involvement in the joint ensembles, the Würzburg students will also contribute three individual pieces: "No" by Carolina Attoumani Diaz, "Credo" for soprano and piano by SoYoung Kim die and "Pasticcio" Sonata in D minor Op. 1 and 3 for transverse flute, violin and basso continuo by Anna Bon di Venezia.
Since 2019, the joint concert of the Bavarian universities of music has been held annually at one of the three universities, the Nuremberg University of Music, the Würzburg University of Music or the Munich University of Music and Theatre. The joint concerts serve in particular to promote musical exchange between the students and make the close alliance between the three universities visible and audible to the audience.
