Friedemann Brennecke, born in 1988, studied music theory and composition in Hamburg, Paris, Freiburg and Essen. After teaching in Mainz, Bremen, Münster, Düsseldorf and Essen, he has been Professor of Music Theory at the University of Music Würzburg since the winter semester 2024/25.
His research focuses on the music of the 17th century. He is particularly interested in historical and contemporary improvisation for university teaching.
In addition to chamber music works, he has also composed music for dance theater, historical instruments and a chamber opera.
