The University of Music Würzburg (HfM) applied to the initiative "Diversity at German Universities " with the project "Diversity Days", which has now been selected for funding in the amount of 25,000 euros. With funding from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the German Rectors' Conference (HRK) supports 33 universities nationwide in the further development of holistic diversity concepts and the visualization of diversity and its institutional added value.
Diversity and diversity are part of the professional and life reality of all university members and (un)consciously shape everyday university life a great deal. In recent years, various measures have already been taken at the University of Music Würzburg and concepts have been developed and implemented that are intended to promote diversity at the university and improve the way diversity is dealt with.
The upcoming winter semester will be themed "Diversity and Diversity". The goal of the "Diversity Days" is to create spaces for discourse at the university, to try out new things to promote diversity with pilot projects, and to experience musical diversity. Between the opening and closing events, five "Diversity Days" will take place with different thematic focuses. These are intended to provide space for exchange and dialogue and to stimulate musical and artistic exploration of the topic. In addition, project-related measures will run throughout the semester.
The project is intended to sensitize all members of the university - teachers, students and administrative staff - to diversity at the University of Music in the long term and to raise awareness of the associated potential and resources of "genuine lived diversity". After all, mutual understanding and appreciation are very important for the common progress of the university.
Background:
On September 1, 2022, the German Rectors' Conference (HRK) launched the "Diversity at German Universities" initiative, which is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The aim of the project is to support German universities in the further development of holistic diversity concepts. By funding university projects and cross-project dialog and exchange, the diversity of universities is to be further advanced at the national level. To receive funding for individual diversity projects, HRK member universities were invited to submit concepts that contribute to the goals of the initiative. 33 universities (including four arts universities) have now been selected for funding.
