Artistic-pedagogical Master's degree programs
In a profoundly changing and increasingly diverse society, the topics of participation, inclusion and cultural diversity are becoming increasingly important. The University of Music Würzburg is responding to these challenges and the associated changes in the job profile of music teachers with four new artistic and pedagogical Master's degree programs. The degree programmes provide graduates of instrumental/vocal pedagogy and other music education (and possibly only artistic in the case of variants 1 and 4) with additional or advanced theoretical and practical skills in the four areas of inclusive music education, community music, elementary music pedagogy (EMP) and vocal music-making practice. he focus is on the further development of students' music-making practice in the relevant musical genres and the teaching skills to teach these music-making practices in heterogeneous groups.
The two Master's degree courses with EMP modules are designed for students who have acquired no or only a rudimentary grounding in elementary music education in their previous studies. They should acquire the teaching qualification in EMP that is in high demand on the job market, especially at music schools. In addition, sufficient knowledge of elementary music pedagogy (EMP) is a prerequisite for the implementation of inclusive music pedagogy and community music courses. The Master's degree courses without EMP modules are designed for students who have already completed a degree in Elementary Music Education.
These four new Master's degree courses are expected to start in the winter semester 2024/25.
